Play Time offers an on-site Extended Day Kindergarten. Tuition includes care during center hours, breakfast, a hot, nutritious lunch and an afternoon snack. A licensed kindergarten teacher teaches the class. Maximum class size is eighteen children who are five years old before September 30.

Our Kindergarten curriculum includes a comprehensive phonics-based, literacy reading program "Beginning to Read, Write and Listen", math and writing programs, science/ social studies, as well as a total readiness program for first grade.

Because we have the children for more hours than a typical kindergarten and our class size is smaller, we incorporate enrichment activities and provide reinforcement and practice with readiness skills. Ours is a well-balanced day designed to meet the academic needs of the children as well as the needs of the working parent including child care on days other schools are not in session.

The following are the kindergarten daily activities:

6:30 Children arriving; breakfast served; free play/preschool

Nutrition
We’re all aware of the important role nutrition plays in the health of our children. At Play Time we serve a hot, nutritious lunch and an afternoon snack every day. Breakfast is available each morning with various items for the children to choose. Our staff members eat with the children in a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere so that mealtime becomes a social, learning experience.

Child Guidance
We take a great deal of pride in the quality of our staff. Play Time staff members are selected not only for their education and work experience in the field of early childhood education, but also for the personal qualities of warmth, empathy, and ability to relate positively to others. We use praise and redirection to help children develop positive behaviors for success.

Safety
The center has monthly fire and tornado drills with the children as well as staff on duty trained in first aid, communicable disease, child abuse and CPR. Each classroom has posted the center’s fire, weather, and general emergency plan, which explain action to be taken by children and staff.

Parents & Children
At Play Time, we welcome parents to participate in all school events and become a partner in your child’s preschool experience. In the fall, we schedule "Meet the Teacher Night" for our parents to come and visit his/her child’s classroom and meet our staff. Early spring, we schedule individual in-person conferences with your child’s teacher to evaluate your child’s progress.
Parents are encouraged to visit the center anytime.

Outdoor Play
Play Time recognizes the importance of daily outdoor play for large muscle development and activity. Our spacious, colorful playground is equipped with a variety of climbing, sliding, and riding apparatus for our children’s outdoor fun. In addition, the center’s playground area has a large tree shaded area with picnic tables, sand and water play tables, and space for sport and game activities. Children play outdoors each day in suitable weather. On inclement weather days, children have indoor large muscle activities through exercise and music.
